Homecoming night for the Caney Valley Bullpups ended in a doubleheader split with the Commerce Tigers.
The Lady Pups fell in the first game 52-51. Caney led for nearly the entire game, leading by as much as ten points on the night, but a late Tigers run led to a narrow victory. Molleigh Kaminska, Myra Denny, and Sarah Martinez all finished the game in double figures. Kaminska's potential game winner at the buzzer was blocked by the Tiger defense.
The Bullpup boys put together another impressive offensive display, racing to an 84-44 victory. The team scored 28 in the opening quarter, and 46 in the first half. Colt Hightower and Layne Denny led the offense early, while Peyton Darden and Ben Matthews contributed as well in the second and third quarters.
The Caney girls are now 12-5 on the season, while the boys improve to 14-3 on the year. Caney will be back in action on Monday night against Dewey. Colt Hightower and Sarah Martinez were named Winter Homecoming King and Queen.
