Three bills are passed by the Oklahoma Senate Business and Insurance Committee to legalize sports betting in the state.

The committee approved the passage of these bills that State Senator Bill Coleman put together along with two other Republican senators. This is something Senator Coleman has been looking to put in effect for several years now.

Coleman says as more states legalize sports betting, Oklahoma can't afford to fall behind. He says with more Native American tribes and tribal casinos than any other state, Oklahoma is uniquely positioned to transform this industry into a thriving economic driver. Officials from the Oklahoma City Thunder are planning to meet with representatives from the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association next week.
