The 2025 baseball season has officially kicked off, with the Kansas City Royals reporting to Spring Training earlier this week.
Kansas City finished 86-76 in the 2024 season, a remarkable 31-win improvement, and earned a playoff berth with a Wild Card spot. The team would eliminate the Baltimore Orioles before falling to the New York Yankees in the Division Series.
Starting pitcher Seth Lugo says it's great to get everyone back in the building.
Lugo teamed up with rotation-mates Cole Ragans and Michael Wacha to deliver one of the best Royal rotations of the 21st century. Ragans says the staff is motivated to accomplish even more.
Leading the Kansas City offense is star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr, and captain catcher Salvador Perez. Perez says the team has enough talent to be the last group standing.
The Royals open their spring training exhibition schedule with the Texas Rangers next Friday.
