The Kansas State Wildcats have a new offensive coordinator, after Conor Riley departed to become the offensive line coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Matt Wells has been promoted to the primary coordinator and play caller for the Wildcats, after serving as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach last season. Wells helped lead quarterback Avery Johnson to one of the best statistical seasons in school history, setting a record with 25 touchdown passes, and finishing top 5 in program history in passing yards and completions.
KSU finished top 15 nationally in four different offensive categories, including rushing yards per game. The team also finished Top 10 in program history in yards per play, yards per game, total yards, and both passing and rushing yards.
Wells has nine years of head coaching experience, serving as the man in charge at Utah State from 2013-18 and Texas Tech from 2019-21. He has built a reputation around molding star QBs, helping turn Jordan Love into a first round pick and current NFL starter for the Green Bay Packers.
