It was an outstanding opening weekend for Red Raven baseball, as the team completed a four game sweep of the Southwestern Community College Spartans.
The Ravens received a pair of strong pitching performances on Opening Day, with sophomore Cross Dowd striking out seven in a 6-1 win, and sophomore Jackson Waggoner striking out six in an 8-2 win in Game 2.
Timely hitting also showed up for the Ravens with sophomores Landin Midgett, Eric Bacon, and Nathon Cruz all contributing at the plate, and freshman outfielder Nathan Tajchman driving in seven total runs on the weekend.
Two more sophomore pitchers set the tone to complete the sweep, with both Easton Renn and Zane Wilson putting together quality starts in 11-0 and 4-3 wins, respectively.
The Red Ravens were projected to be a Top 5 KJCCC contender this season, even receiving a first place vote. The team will be back in action against Hutchinson on February 27th.
