High School basketball is entering the final two weeks of the regular season, and the Cherryvale Chargers girls basketball team find themselves right in the middle of a Tri-Valley League title race.
Cherryvale is 12-3 on the season entering a big matchup with the Caney Bullpups tonight. The team is looking to fend off both Eureka and Neodesha to remain at the top of the league, with their last loss coming nearly two months ago.
Head Coach Kelsey Overacker says the team has really embraced a together mentality.
Despite not much senior leadership on the roster, the duo of Kadynce Forman and LilliAnn Whittley have been key components of the team's success. Forman says the group has followed the lead of their talented head coach.
The team has district games with Caney and Humboldt this week, before wrapping up the regular season with Fredonia and Eureka next week.
