Kansas Kid Named Cowboys Head Coach

A former Kansas high school football star has been named the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Brian Schottenheimer was named the new man in charge for America's Team, replacing Mike McCarthy. Schottenheimer served the past three seasons on the Dallas staff, including two seasons as offensive coordinator.

Schottenheimer is a graduate of Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, where he led the Tigers to the 1991 state championship as a first-team all-state quarterback. He is the son of former Chiefs coach Marty Schottenheimer, and played college football at both Kansas and Florida.

This will be Schottenheimer's first head coaching job in his career, although he has served as a coach in both college and the NFL since 1997.
