A former Kansas State starting quarterback is now a national champion.
Will Howard and the Ohio State Buckeyes are the first national champions in the 12-team College Football Playoff era, defeating Notre Dame 34-23 in the championship game in Atlanta.
Howard transfered to Ohio State after four seasons at Kansas State, serving as the starting quarterback for two. He says winning a national title is a surreal feeling.
Howard was a star in the title game, completing 17 of 21 passes for more than 280 total yards and two touchdowns. He finished the college football season with the highest quarterback rating of any college football player in the country.
He says being a part of the OSU family has been a dream come true.
Howard's NFL draft stock has skyrocketed, and the 23-year old is now projected as high as a second-round pick for April's draft.
