Bullpups Sweep Red Devils in Basketball Doubleheader

The Caney Valley Bullpups swept the Erie Red Devils in a Tuesday night basketball doubleheader at Erie.
The Lady Pups won 60-36 to improve to 6-0 on the season, and the guys won their fourth straight with a 79-44 victory.

Elyn Washburn led the Lady Pups with nineteen points, including six three's, and Molleigh Kaminska added fourteen in the win. Caney was once again able to establish their low post presence, with seventeen of their twenty three made shots under the hoop. Sarah Martinez added eight points, while Addison Regis and Myra Denny had five apiece.

The guys jumped out to a big lead early, scoring twenty seven in the first quarter and thirty in the second quarter, leading 57-28 at halftime. Despite having a taller lineup, Erie was unable to stop Caney's low post game. Peyton Darden led Caney with 22 points; Brayden Messner had thirteen including three straight 3's off the bench in the 2nd quarter. Colt Hightower, who sat for much of the 2nd half, added 12 points, and James Kistler added ten for the Pups.
Caney will take on Iola at home Thursday night; pregame around 5:50, and the first game at 6:00 on Greatest Hits 104.1!
