A drama-filled afternoon in Liberal resulted in a Red Raven doubleheader sweep against the Seward County Saints.
The Lady Ravens rallied from an early deficit to beat the Saints 75-63, and earn the very important head-to-head victory in the quest for a home quarterfinal playoff game. The Ravens and Saints entered the day tied for third in the conference standings.
Coffeyville was led by Karys Washington and Aubrey Hishaw, who combined for 32 points and 13 rebounds. Norika Welch had 16 points as well in the win. Sophomore guard Camree Johnson exited the game with a hand injury and did not return.
On the men's side, Coffeyville survived the Saints with a Justin Taylor game-winning shot as time expired to win 51-50.
Coffeyville experienced struggles shooting the ball, just 31% from the field on the day. Brian Griffith had 18 points, and was the only Raven in double figures.
With the wins, the Lady Ravens are 12-3 with a 7-3 league record, and sit third in the conference, while the men are 13-3 with a 9-1 conference mark, sitting in second place. The Red Ravens return to Nellis Hall to play Dodge City on Wednesday night.
