A college basketball coach who was raised in Fredonia, Kansas will be enshrined in the Garden City Community College Hall of Fame.
Alaura Sharp is one of five total inductees in the 2025 Hall of Fame class, and will be recognized for her contributions to the college in her time as head coach.
Sharp served as the head women's basketball coach at Garden City from 2009-13 and was the 2009 KJCCC Coach of the Year. She won 83 games across four seasons and led the Broncbusters to 29 wins in the 2012-13 season, including a 15-0 start.
After her time at Garden, Sharp spent three seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Southern Miss and three seasons as an assistant at Louisiana Tech. She was the head coach of Presbyterian College from 2018-24, leading the Blue Hose to their first-ever NCAA tournament win last year.
Sharp now currently serves as the head coach at Appalachian State University. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Friday, April 25th at 6 p.m. at Garden City Community College.
