Lorenzen Comments on Return to Royals

The Kansas City Royals made an addition to their starting rotation earlier this week, agreeing to a one-year deal with right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen.

The deal is worth a guaranteed $7 million, with a mutual option for the 2026 season at $12 million.

Lorenzen says this was an opportunity that he couldn't pass up on.

Lorenzen was acquired at the trade deadline last season, and had an earned run average of 1.57 for Kansas City, emerging as one of their most consistent arms in the playoff push. General Manager JJ Picollo says this was a priority for the organization.

Lorenzen will prepare for the 2025 season as a starting pitcher, but also has plenty of bullpen experience if the team needs change moving forward.
