Wilson County boasts one of the most exciting high school basketball teams in the area, with the Neodesha Blue Streaks girls basketball team off to a 6-1 start to the season.
The team cruised to a convincing home win over Sedan in their first game of 2025, and also have early season wins over Humboldt, Olpe, and Fredonia. Head Coach Justin Pierce says the group does a great job of making it fun for everyone.
One of the many seniors that leads the group is Prayer Roebuck, who is committed to play college volleyball at Division 2 William Jewell in Kansas City, and is closing in on 1,500 career points on the basketball court. She says this senior class has nearly a decade's worth of chemistry on the court.
The team's lone loss this season was a narrow defeat to the Eureka Tornadoes in the Wildcat Classic Championship game. Eureka has dominated the conference over the past decade, and Pierce says this team's ultimate goal is to finally flip the script.
Neodesha will be tested in a tough conference matchup on Friday night, when they travel to take on the Cherryvale Chargers.
