Field Kindley girls basketball starts league play 2-0 for first time in over 20 seasons. The Lady Nado beat county rival Independence 48-45 in their first game of the new year.
Both teams got out to fast starts shooting over 40% in the first half. Indy led after the first quarter 14-13, but Coffeyville would lead at the half 27-26. Things slowed down in the second half with both teams struggling to find a rhythm offensively. Despite the scoring struggles, the Lady Nado would extend their lead to three outscoring the Bulldogs 8-6 in the quarter.
Independence was able to get the lead down to one with just under four minutes to play. Senior Taiylor Caron would hit two free throws to push it back to a three point lead and the Lady Nado were able to close it out from there.
Coffeyville improves to 4-2 on the season winning four straight. They face 0-6 Parsons on the road on Friday at 6:00pm on Sonshine 98.9 KQQF.
