Gonzaga Basketball Team Narrowly Avoids Plane Crash

One of Division 1's premier basketball programs suffered a close call while on a runway on their way to a game.

A private jet carrying the Gonzaga University men's basketball team nearly crossed a runway at Los Angeles International Airport, as another flight was actively taking off.

KREM News Spokane's Shannon Moudy has more on the incident from Friday.

The Bulldogs were in Los Angeles to play UCLA on Saturday, a game they would narrowly lose by three points. The team stayed in California to play Pepperdine in the league opener, winning 89-82 last night in Malibu.

Moudy says the group was completely caught off guard by the scare.

Nobody was injured, and the Bulldogs will continue to monitor the FAA investigation as it moves forward. Gonzaga returns to Washington today to face Portland on Thursday night.
