The Caney Valley Bullpups took both games at Sedan last night in high school basketball action. The Lady Pups won 58-28, and the guys took home a 75-41 victory.
The Lady Pups used height to their advantage with great rebounding by Sarah Martinez and Molleigh Kaminska, and the press defense was effective against the lady Devil offense, causing multiple steals, including five by Ameris King-Dunn. Elyn Washburn and Myra Denny were effecient at the point, with key assists from Gracie Eden and Addison Regis.
The guys also used height to their advantage, with big men Ben Matthews, Peyton Darden and James Kistler crashing the boards on both sides of the ball, and making key buckets in the first half. The scoring began with a two handed slam by Colt Hightower. The Pups led 33-18 at the half. Layne Denny, Traxcyn Garton, Gavin Messner and Braydon Messner helped the Pups extend their lead in the second half.
The Lady Pups improve to 3-0 on the season, and the guys improve to 1-2.
Both teams travel to Dewey to take on the Bulldoggers Friday night.
