High school basketball gets underway this week, and the Fredonia Yellow Jackets are chasing a Tri-Valley League champioinship.

 

The Yellow Jackets went 13-7 last season, led by a group of players that mostly return for the new season. Head Coach Dee Barnett will lean on returners with varsity experience, including his sons Elias and Kamden.

 

Barnett says it takes effort to find the balance between coach and dad.

 

Fredonia finished the season by winning eight of their final nine games, and winning multiple games by narrow margins. Barnett says the team tries to take each day one play at a time.

 

Fredonia opens the season at home against the rival Neodesha Blue Streaks on Friday night.
