Ravens Rally for Dramatic Win over Indy

The Red Ravens remain unbeaten in Jayhawk Conference play, completing a 19-point comeback to stun the Independence Pirates 98-94.

Coffeyville trailed 26-7 early in the contest, and didn't take their first lead till deep into the second half. Assistant Coach Jordan Bailey says the team never gave up.

Brian Griffith finished with a career high 29 points, and was the best player on the floor in the second half. Justin Taylor also contributed 16 points, with key shots and free throws late. Bailey says those two were stars when it was needed most.

The Lady Ravens rolled to an 83-29 win in the opener over ICC.

Coffeyville played strong defense once again, forcing 24 total turnovers and holding the Pirates to 23% shooting. Assistant Coach Sierra McBride says the team is focused on a defense first mentality.

Karliey Parker led the team with 14 points, while sophomore Karys Washington had another strong performance, finishing with 13 points and six rebounds. McBride says Washington can be a difference maker for this team.

The men will play one final non-conference game on Friday at 5 p.m. against Arkansas State-Newport. The teams will have their next conference games next Wednesday night when they travel to take on the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.
