Royals Trade for Former Rookie of Year

The Kansas City Royals have made a big trade, acquiring the 2021 National League Rookie of the Year.

Kansas City receives second baseman Jonathan India from the Cincinnati Reds, along with outfielder Joey Weimer, in exchange for starting pitcher Brady Singer.

General Manager JJ Picollo says the team made the deal with one goal in mind.

India and Singer were teammates at the University of Florida in 2018, when both were selected in the first round of the MLB Draft. India will turn 28 years old this offseason, and has been in the big leagues for four full seasons.

Picollo says when he's healthy, he can be one of the most impactful bats in the sport.

India finished the 2024 season hitting .248 with 15 home runs and 84 runs scored.
