Red Ravens Host Independence in Rivalry Game

The Red Ravens control their own destiny in their quest for a Jayhawk conference championship, and match up with an arch rival in their final home game.

Coffeyville welcomes Indepedence to Veterans Memorial Stadium tomorrow afternoon, with the Ravens knowing that wins in their final two regular season games would ensure at least a split of the KJCCC conference title, their first since 2021.

Joseph Vick has been the starting QB for the Ravens the past two weeks, stepping up for the injured Chris Arviso. Offensive coordinator Angel Ortiz says Vick is playing with more composure.

Independence brings a quality run game to the field, with multiple players that can impact the offense. Defensive coordinator Kosi Eldridge says the team is focused on slowing the run.

Coffeyville has shown flashes of an elite offense, but is still working on putting a complete performance together. Ortiz says when the team stays out of their own way, they're tough to stop.

CCC ends the season with Independence and Butler, two heated rivals standing in the way of potential postseason football. Eldridge says the team needs to handle their business one play at a time.

Coverage of the Ravens and Pirates begins tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. CT with kickoff at 1 on US 98 and the Red Raven Sports Network. All Montgomery County citizens get in for free with valid ID, due to Montgomery County Appreciation Day.
