Nado Win First Game Despite Lightning Delay

It took an extra three days due to a lightning delay postponing the second half, but the Nado picked up their first win of the season 47-28.

It was scoreless first quarter, but Emporia would strike first on the first play of the second quarter. QB Micah Gray would find WR Owen Ruge for a 48-yard touchdown. The Spartans would extend their lead in the second with a Gray pass to TE Madden Seidl for a 34-yard score. The Nado would put themselves on the scoreboard with two jump ball touchdowns from QB Axel Erne to WR Ke'Shawn Hayes cutting the lead to 14-12 at the half. During halftime, a storm moved into the area causing the second half to be postponed until Monday.

After three days of rest and preparation Coffeyville and Emporia would kick off the second half with the Nado receiving the ball trailing by two, Coffeyville would eat up eight minutes of the clock in the third quarter but a fumble in the redzone would leave them trailing by two. On Emporia's first drive of the second half, Hayes would pick off Gray and return it for a touchdown and Coffeyville's first lead 18-14.

The Nado never looked back as Aaron Tunstall would get things going rushing for over 175 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The duo of Hayes and Tunstall was exactly what the Nado needed to pick up their first win as they combined for over 350 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns.

The Nado take on rival Independence on Friday.
