Red Raven football will have their final team scrimmage this weekend, in preparation of the season opener.

 

CCC is eager to improve from the 3-7 season in 2023, and ascend back to the top of the Jayhawk conference in 2024.

 

The defense has two key returners in the secondary, in cornerback Cyler Christmas, and safety Jayden Sheppard. Sheppard says the defensive backs have been competing with each other well in camp.

 

On offense, the team returns running back Tre Jones, and tight end Brec Long. Long is a local product who began his high school career at Caney, and later starred at Sedan. He says it's exciting to play for his hometown school.

 

Sheppard is projected to fill a hybrid role on defense, playing safety, slot cornerback, and even sub linebacker in some formations. He says he's getting help from his teammates to stay ready for all assignments.

 

The Ravens open the season against Kansas Wesleyan JV on August 29th.
