Chiefs Receiver Injured in Preseason Loss

The Chiefs dropped their preseason opener to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it wasn't the score that was the takeaway from the weekend.

New Kansas City wide receiver Marquese "Hollywood" Brown exited the game after his first catch with a shoulder injury, and would not return. He was hospitalized overnight in Jacksonville, and later diagnosed with a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint, which is when the clavicle dislocates into the sternum.

Head coach Andy Reid says Brown will be out a while, but there is a bit of good news.

Brown was acquired in the offseason, after time with the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals. The receiver was a first round pick in 2019 out of the University of Oklahoma.

Reid says with Brown sidelined, other receivers will need to step up.

The injury is identical to the one suffered by former Chiefs star Tyreek Hill in 2019, when Hill missed four games. Kansas City opens the season on September 5th against the Baltimore Ravens, with Brown's status for the game uncertain.
