The Kansas City Royals wrapped up a 6-1 road trip in dramatic fashion.

 

The team was down 2-0 in the ninth inning, and down to their final out. When losing the series seemed like all but certain, MJ Melendez delivered one of the biggest swings of the season.

 

Kansas City improves to 63-50 on the season, holding a Wild Card playoff spot by 2.5 games. The team returns to Kauffman Stadium tonight, to begin a series against the Boston Red Sox.

 

Brady Singer gets the ball for the series opener, with Seth Lugo and Cole Ragans to follow in the series. Boston is the closest team to Kansas City in the playoff chase.
