Royals Add Pitching Depth at Trade Deadline

Looking to add pitching depth to the team, the Kansas City Royals have traded for Michael Lorenzen from the Texas Rangers for left handed pitcher Walter Pennington.

So far this season, Lorenzen has a 5-6 record with a 3.81 ERA. He also has 75 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.28.

Lorenzen was an expendable piece of the Rangers rotation, with Max Scherzer, Dane Dunning, Tyler Mahle and Jacob deGrom all scheduled to return to their rotation in the near future. Lorenzen was only signed by the Rangers to a one-year contract, so he will be a free agent after this season.

It is unknown at this time whether the 32-year old Lorenzen will be a starter or a relief pitcher.
