A former Kansas Jayhawks quarterback was the top pick in the United Football League Draft.
Jason Bean was selected with the first overall pick by the Memphis Showboats. Bean is currently with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent, but can elect to join the UFL if he fails to make an NFL roster.
The UFL recently concluded their inaugural season, after the merger of the XFL and the USFL. The Showboats had the top pick aftter going 5-5 last season, with a 2-4 division record.
Bean was a season saver in many ways for the Jayhawks last season, stepping in for the injured Jalon Daniels and leading Kansas to nine wins. He compeleted 62% of his passes for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns in his senior season in Lawrence.
