When the Kansas Jayhawks took the stage at Big XII Media Days, the talk was all about a conference championship.
The Jayhawks are firmly in the mix for the 2024 conference title, ranked No. 4 in the preseason polls. KU won nine games a season ago, their most in 15 years.
Kansas is led by senior quarterback Jalon Daniels, who returns from a nagging back injury. Head coach Lance Leipold says Daniels is the heartbeat of the entire team.
The Jayhawks are also operating with a new offensive coordinator this season, with Jeff Grimes taking over for Andy Kotelnicki, who departed for Penn State. Daniels says the relationship with Grimes is improving daily.
Another key piece for the Jayhawks in 2024 is running back Devin Neal, who returns for his senior season. He says the locker room is motivated and prepared to chase a championship.
Kansas opens the season against Lindenwood on August 29th.
