For just the fourth time in team history, the Royals are sending four players to the MLB All-Star Game.
Pitchers Seth Lugo and Cole Ragans, along with catcher Salvador Perez, and shortstop Bobby Witt Jr, were selected to participate in the annual midsummer's classic.
Perez is heading to his ninth All-Star Game, including a stretch of six consecutive appearances from 2013-18. Witt is participating in his first All-Star weekend, and will also participate in the Home Run Derby.
It is also the first all-star appearance for both Lugo and Ragans, who have been the two most impressive arms in a rotation that has helped lead the team back to contention. It is the first time in Royals history that two starting pitchers have been named all-stars in the same season.
The All-Star Game is in Arlington, Texas, and will be played on July 16th at 7 p.m. CT.
