Kansas Track Star Named Gatorade Player of Year

A Kansas high school track and field star has received a historic award.

Topeka Seaman star Ryin Miller was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Kansas Girls Track and Field Player of the Year. She is the first Viking track and field athlete to ever be selected Gatorade Player of the Year.

The sophomore distance runner was dominant all season long, breaking numerous school and state records, and receiving recognition at the national level. Miller was the 5A state champion in both the 800m and 1600m, and finished second in the state in the 3200m. Ryin also helped the Vikings to a fourth place finish as a team in the state championship.

Miller ranks top five in the nation for sophomores in the 1600m and 3200m, and her best times in the 1600, 3200, and 800 are all top three in Kansas State history.
