Independence Community College women's basketball is aiming to build off a successful season.
The team exceeded expectations in the first season under Rob Beckmann, winning notable games over Butler and Coffeyville and finishing in a tie for eighth place in the KJCCC at 10-14.
Beckmann says he has changed a few things with the play style since becoming the head coach.
The Lady Pirates were one of nine teams in the conference to finish with a winning overall record, in a conference that includes the national champions, and four nationally ranked teams.
Beckmann says it's fulfilling to compete at this level in this league.
ICC will feature plenty of new faces, after saying goodbye to a number of sophomores, and will begin fall practices in August.
