It's a new era of Red Raven softball, with the program looking to make the leap to championship contention.
Ashton Friend was named the new leader of the program last month, after spending two seasons on the Pittsburg State coaching staff. She says the connection with the Ravens was immediate.
Friend played two seasons at Cowley County before finishing her career with Washburn University in Topeka. She says she plans to use her playing career and experiences to relate to the current Ravens.
Friend is working to finalize the 2024 recruiting class, having four returners and 14 incoming freshman as of now. She says she wants the Ravens to have a scrappy mentality on the field.
The Raven softball team is currently doing optional summer workouts, and will report to campus in mid-August to begin fall practice.
