A sophomore leader from the Independence Pirates women's basketball team has committed to Division 1.

 

Guard Sabrina Larsson announced her commitment to Hofstra University earlier this week, following two seasons with the Pirates. Pirates coach Rob Beckmann says it's not the first D1 offer Larsson has received.

 

Larsson was a top player for the Pirates in both seasons of her JUCO career, contributing as a scorer, passer, defender, and overall leader. Beckmann says Larsson had the type of energy that is infectious.

 

Larsson scored a season high 24 points in January against Seward County, and had 18 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists against Labette in November.

 

She has two seasons of eligibility remaining, and is joining a Hofstra team looking for a bounce back season, following an 11-21 record a year ago.
