Seth Lugo allowed four runs in seven innings, while the Royals bats struggled with Yankee starter Carlos Rodon.
Manager Matt Quatraro says it was tough to get things going against Rodon.
Kansas City also has more tough injury news this month, with outfielder Hunter Renfroe exiting the game after fouling a pitch off his foot. Quatraro says Renfroe is probably going to miss some time.
