A former Labette Community College volleyball player, who later played in Division 1 and professionally, has returned to where it all began.
Alexis Kapales was named the new assistant coach for Cardinal volleyball last month, now helping lead the team she played for just years ago. She says the leadership of Haley Cook inspired her to pursue a coaching career.
Kapales recently played professionally in Montenegro, following playing Division 1 volleyball at both St. Peter's and Gardner Webb. She says she has learned numerous techniques she hopes to bring to Labette.
This is the first coaching job for Kapales, who takes the role new Red Raven volleyball coach Kandi Midgett served in for two years. Kapales says she hopes her legacy is one of passion for players.
Kapales and the Cardinal volleyball program are hosting a youth camp next week for area high school athletes, which takes place June 13th and 14th. A link to register can be found HERE.
