Independence Community College Volleyball is hard at work, preparing for the first season under head coach Alex Lehocky.
The Pirates are returning seven players from last season's team, which gives the roster some needed KJCCC experience. Lehocky says she worked hard to build relationships with the returners.
Many junior college athletes are focused on earning the opportunity to continue their career at the 4-year level. Lehocky says JUCO athletes have a unique hunger and desire to win.
The Pirates, like other teams around the area, are home for summer until late July. Lehocky says she's having her players stay off the court this summer.
ICC participated in a number of scrimmages this spring, and will have approximately three weeks in August to prepare for the season opener.
