Fall sports athletes report to campus in just over a month, but Labette Community College volleyball is already hard at work.
The Cardinals are led by Head Coach Haley Cook, who is welcoming back numerous returners from last season's roster. She says having sophomore leadership gives the program a head start.
The Cardinals showcased highs and lows in 2023, showing flashes of taking a leap to conference title contention. Cook says she hopes the team will build off of their strong defense.
Cook is adding a new assistant coach to the staff in Alexis Kapales, who replaces Kandi Midgett, who became the CCC head volleyball coach earlier this year. Cook says there are mixed feelings when an assistant leaves the program.
The Cardinals are doing home workouts and staying in communication virtually, before the team reports to campus in late July.
