The efforts to relocate the Kansas City Chiefs to Kansas have gained support following a rejected sales tax in Jackson County.
A new website was created, with the help from Scoop and Score, Inc. to support a STAR Bond package that would bring the Super Bowl champions to the Sunflower State. A link to the website can be found HERE.
Following the rejection of the tax, the Kansas Legislature began discussing a bond proposal to build a new stadium that would draw the organization to Kansas City, Kansas.
Both Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson and Speaker Dan Hawkins sent a message to Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt regarding a potential relocation, stating "the rich tradition and history of the Chiefs are beloved across the entire Kansas City region and throughout Kansas. The potential to establish a home for the Chiefs family here on the Kansas side of the state line is an opportunity that deserves a thourough conversation."
The Kansas Conference Committee on Senate and House Commerce started working on a bill, but it has not been approved yet. The special session begins on June 18th.
