Red Raven basketball star Cris Carroll is off to Division 1, signing with the Youngstown State Penguins last week.
Youngstown State plays in the Horizon League conference, and has been one of the league's top teams in recent years. Carroll says he's had conversations with the Penguins for a few years.
Carroll transfered to Coffeyville after spending his freshman season with the Hutchinson Blue Dragons. He says that experience helped him grow as a player.
With the departures of Soti Nafpliotis and Landon Glasper, as well as an early season injury to Boubacar Keita, Carroll was thrust into a star role from the time he stepped on campus. He says his relationship with the coaches was strong throughout the season.
Carroll will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, and is preparing to join the Penguins this summer.
