Wacha to Miss Time with Foot Fracture

The Kansas City Royals will be going through their June schedule without a key veteran pitcher.

Right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha will miss three to four weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot. Wacha was hit with a line drive in the first inning of Friday's loss to the Padres, and pitched five innings before exiting the game.

Wacha is not believed to need surgery, which would have added weeks to the recovery time. Wacha will be able to play catch on a knee, and keep his arm active while his foot recovers. The team is hopeful he can ramp up activities in about two weeks.

The Royals face a gauntlet schedule this month, playing seven games against the Cleveland Guardians, three games with the Los Angelese Dodgers, and four games with the New York Yankees.
