A Fredonia native is settling in to her new role as head women's basketball coach at Appalachian State.
Alaura Sharp accepted the App State job in late March, after leading Presbyterian College to their first NCAA Tournament win in school history.
Sharp says she saw a unique opportunity with the Mountaineers.
Sharp's teams have a history of intense defense, and efficient offense. She says her group will continue to battle all season long.
Born and raised in Fredonia, Sharp has spent time at Garden City and Southern Mississippi as well in her coaching career. She says expectations are already sky high in Year 1.
Sharp has already began working on the recruiting trail, signing former Dodge City star Georgia Gray among others.
