A Red Raven track and field star is now a national champion.

 

Sophomore Trevor Gunzell is the new NJCAA National Champion in the shot put, after breaking the facility record in Gainsville, Florida, with a throw of 18.59 meters.

 

Gunzell finished second in the nation last year, behind former high school teammate Christopher Young, but was able to avenge the loss this time around.

 

Gunzell is committed to the University of Alabama to continue his track and field career.
