Caney Splits Doubleheader with Chargers

 

 The Caney Valley Bullpups got off to a fast start and never looked back, as they defeated the Cherryvale Chargers in boys basketball action last night 73-16.

 The Bullpups had their most productive quarter of the season to start the game, outscoring Cherryvale 28-4 in the 1st quarter. Cherryvale didn't score their first point until 1:29 left in the 1st.

 Colt Hightower led all scorers with sixteen points in 2 ½ quarters, while Layne Denny added twelve for the Bullpups. Twelve players had points for the Bullpups.

 Landon Fox led the Chargers with seven points and Carsen Ellis added six.

 The Lady Chargers defeated the Lady Bullpups in the early matchup 54-41. Offensive rebounding proved to be the big difference in the game for the Chargers, who were able build and maintain an eight to ten point lead for most of the contest.

 Anna Washburn led the Bullpups with eighteen points; 14 of which came in the 2nd half. Kimberly Owens added nine and Myra Denny had seven for the Lady Pups.

 Jailee Reister led the Lady Chargers and all scorers with sixteen points, while Bethany Umbarger added thirteen and Harmony John added eleven for Cherryvale.

 Caney Valley travels to Commerce Friday night to take on the Tigers in girls and boys action Friday night.
