A historic day in the football landscape sees two coaching legends depart.

 

Alabama head coach Nick Saban has announced his retirement following 17 seasons in Tuscaloosa, winning seven total national championships and six with the Crimson Tide.

 

ESPN senior writer Chris Low says this will be a day never forgotten in college football.

 

Additionally, longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is parting ways with the team following 24 seasons and six Super Bowl championships.

 

Some thought the Patriots would explore a trade with Belichick to another franchise. ESPN insider Adam Schefter says, however, this was the easiest way for both parties.

 

Both Alabama and New England will embark on coaching searches for the first time since the 2000s.
