CFP National Championship Set

The College Football Playoff National Championship game is set, following a pair of semifinal games on New Year's Day.

The 1-seed Michigan Wolverines survived the Alabama Crimson Tide in overtime, with a 27-20 final score. Senior running back Blake Corum ran in the winning touchdown, becoming Michigan's all-time touchdown leader in the process.

Wolverine head coach Jim Harbaugh says this opportunity is important for the program.

The Washington Huskies beat the Texas Longhorns 37-31 in the second seminfinal game. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr was sensational, passing for 430 yards and two touchdowns.

He says the Huskies have been bought in since the summer.

Michigan and Washington will play for the National Championship on Monday.
