KU Beats UNLV to Win Guaranteed Rate Bowl

Despite three turnovers and over 200 yards in penalties, Kansas beats UNLV 49-36 in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

The Jayhawks led 28-10 at the half before UNLV would score 14 unanswered in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 28-14. KU would outscore the Rebels 21-14 in the 4th to stop the comeback and come away with the victory.

Senior QB Jason Bean, who chose to come back for one more season, threw for 449 yards and six touchdowns. Bean was named the Offensive Player of the Game. WRs Luke Grimm and Lawrence Arnold both caught three touchdowns. This is the first time in school history two players have caught three TDs in a game. Grimm had 160 yards on four catches and Arnold had 132 yards on six catches.

Coach Lance Leipold says he's proud of this football team for a lot of reasons. This is KU's first nine-win season since 2007 and first bowl win since 2008.
