Greinke Wins Final Start, Unsure of Future

The 2023 season finale for the Kansas City Royals was perhaps more emotional than normal, with longtime starter Zack Greinke pitching for potentially the final time.

Greinke pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one run, and earning the victory over the New York Yankees in the season finale. He says his experiences in Kansas City have been memorable.

Young shortstop Bobby Witt Jr finished the season as the first player with 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in a season in Royals history, as well as hitting a league leading 11 triples. He says being a small part of Greinke's journey is special.

Greinke has 225 career wins, second most among active pitchers behind Justin Verlander. He is 68th all time in wins, 33rd all time in starts, 84th all time in innings, and 20th all time in strikeouts.
