Royals Outfielder Emerging as Power Bat

Young starting pitcher Cole Ragans has already impressed in his time in Kansas City, and now another mid-season acquisition is becoming an exciting piece of the future.

Outfielder Nelson Velazquez hit his 15th home run of the season in yesterday's 6-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Velazquez has 12 home runs and 25 runs batted in since being traded to the Royals in July.

In just 33 games in Kansas City, Velazquez has put up unbelievable stats, on pace for 59 home runs and 123 runs batted in over a full season. Velazquez also has the highest Isolated Slugging Percentage in Royals franchise history, for any player with at least 30 games played.

Velazquez is just 24 years old, and can play all three outfield positions, making him a very exciting piece for the 2024 team.
