The Super Bowl Champions finally take the field in a regular season game, as the Kansas City Chiefs open the 2023 season tonight against the Detroit Lions.

 

This is not the same Lions team of years past, led by a strong offensive line and veteran quarterback Jared Goff. Many believe the Lions will win the NFC North division in 2023.

 

Kansas City will have two major questioins to answer to begin the season, with the potential absence of both star defensive tackle Chris Jones and tight end Travis Kelce. Jones is holding out for a new contract, and Kelce suffered a knee injury this week and is unsure if he will be able to play.

 

The running game of the Chiefs may have more of a role than previously expected, with Isaiah Pacheco, Jerrick McKinnon, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire creating strong depth.

 

Young wide receiver Skyy Moore is a popular breakout candidate in 2023. NFL writer Peter King says he expects much more from Moore this season. First round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah should provide needed pash rush depth with Jones absent.
