Travis Kelce Suffers Knee Injury in Practice

One of the Chiefs' most valuable weapons on offense suffered a potentially serious knee injury during practice.

Tight end Travis Kelce left practice early with a hyperextension in his knee. Kelce was able to leave the field under his own power, but had a noticeable limp and was struggling to put weight on his leg.

Following multiple tests, Kansas City believes the veteran's ACL is not damaged, and the injury isn't season-threatening. Kelce has inflammation in the knee, and will undergo further testing today to determine the potential significance.

The Chiefs have two other active tight ends on the roster, Noah Gray and Blake Bell. Kelce has seven consecutive seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards, and is widely considered one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.

His status for the season opener against the Detroit Lions in unknown.
