The West Elk Patriots enter the 2023 football season looking to establish themselves once again as one of the best football teams in Southeast Kansas.

 

The Patriots featured a suffocating defense a season ago, only allowing 94 points across nine games. Head Coach Chris Haag says this is because the team is filled with talented athletes.

 

West Elk thrives in the fast paced eight-man style of football, and can attack teams offensively in a variety of ways. Haag says the team athleticism gives them options on offense.

 

The Patriots went into the playoffs undefeated in 2022, and although the roster lost a good number of seniors, the expectations are still sky high. Haag says the group knows what is expected of them.

 

West Elk opens the 2023 season at home against the Udall Eagles, which can be heard on the KGGF Game of the Week on September 1st.
